Personal Information
I began my career as an LPC Intern and a substance use disorder counselor at Serenity House in Abilene, TX, in 2007. There I provided intake and 12-step counseling to clients diagnosed with a substance use disorder. I completed my internship at Austin State School in Austin, Texas. There I performed functional analyses, created behavior support plans, and provided psychotherapy for residents diagnosed with an intellectual developmental disorder. After I became independently licensed, I began a private counseling practice in San Antonio, Texas. I also had the privilege of serving as a counselor to the underserved population in San Antonio at several community counseling centers. After meeting and marrying my husband, an Army Chaplain, I moved to Waco, Texas, where I opened the Counseling and Recovery Center of Waco, LLC. For six years, I served individuals with various challenges but specialized in substance use disorders and addiction. I had the privilege of growing deep and meaningful relationships with my clients and the Waco community and dearly miss it. I closed my physical practice in 2017 due to my husband's reassignment to Hawaii. In Hawaii, I had the privilege of serving the United States Marine Corps as a clinical substance abuse counselor. Now I serve the United States Army in Kentucky as a Military and Family Life Counselor and continue to provide counseling to the general public through my online counseling business.

Approach
I believe every person has a unique story, needs, and goals. I do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach to counseling. As your therapist, I strive to find what will work best for you. You are my focus. That said, some people like to know my theoretical approach (the way I think about counseling). Out of the 6 main theoretical approaches, I lean toward Cognitive, Behavioral, and Humanistic/person-centered theories. Every counselor also uses certain methodologies (the tools they use) for counseling. The tools I most frequently use are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Reality Therapy.
