I'm glad that you decided to take a few minutes for yourself to find out how therapy can help you. If you are not feeling confident in yourself, and you tend to worry about making too many mistakes, you may feel as though life is passing you by. If it feels too scary to ask for a raise or start a conversation with someone new, you don't have to do this alone. I would like to collaborate with you so that we can find the best plan to tackle the things you would like to change in your life. Thank you for allowing me to take this journey with you. You may find that even making small changes, can have a positive impact. I will strive to help you to regain a sense of hope, purpose and direction in your life.
When I am not working, I enjoy hikes and being outside when its warm. I love to bake and to try out new recipes for my friends and family. Paper crafts is my newest hobby. I am a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters in my community. I love all animals and have two cats. I am married and my husband and I enjoy traveling to new places across the United States.
I graduated from Lakeland College with a Bachelor's Degree. I obtained a degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. During my graduate studies, I had an opportunity to work at a county mental health center. It was through my experiences there that I realized how passionate I am about helping others to feel better and find ways to mange their emotional health. My most recent position was working at an outpatient practice for 11 1/2 years helping children, families and adults find relief from anxiety and depression, learn ways to feel more confident in social situations, and find their path towards grief recovery. I've also helped others with ADHD become more focused in day to day tasks and to feel more organized with their time.
Specialties & Issues
I serve clients ages eighteen and up. One of my areas of expertise is helping others learn strategies to find relief from anxiety in social situations that affects their ability to attend school, pursue new careers, jobs or their ability to pursue relationships with others. My other area of expertise is helping others recover from grief and loss. There are many losses that clients may experience through out their life time. Some of these losses can include loss of a loved one, job loss, or pet loss. Having a private space to sort through all of the feelings that accompany those losses can help guide people through the healing process. My other area of expertise is providing individual counseling, support and guidance to parents seeking assistance with finding new ways to improve communication with their child or teen.
My virtual office is welcoming and relaxed. This is a place in which you can discuss how you are thinking and feeling without fear of judgement. Providing you with more "tools" in your toolbox can help you to feel more calm, and confident. I will help you to build on your strengths so we can create a plan that fits best for you. Therapy can give you a different perspective. I will challenge the way you think about yourself and assumptions you may make about the outcome of trying something new. If you have a few extra minutes in your day, I would like to teach you ways to stay more present focused when your mind starts thinking about the future and all of the "what-ifs." This can help you increase feeling calm and grounded in the present moment.
