I help people make courageous choices so they can live life to the fullest.
We all "should" on ourselves all of the time. I "should" be happy, I "should" be grateful, I "should" be fulfilled. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't, but if you are trying to convince yourself of a certain feeling, that's obviously not how you feel - at least not all of you. What else is in there? Is there a small voice inside you wanting more or different? How about an idea you keep coming back to but you continue to talk yourself out of it?
I get it. Change is hard. It's risky. But isn't it worth a shot at a great reward?
Who do you REALLY want to be? What do you REALLY want to do?
I am passionate about helping others recognize their strengths and values, stand up for themselves and what they believe in, and live as authentically as possible.
I am a Minnesota native, and I love this state. I enjoy being outdoors exploring new natural areas. I also find nature good for my soul. I love animals and recongize the value they can bring to our life! I went in to counseling psychology due to seeing family members struggle in getting adequate care as I was growing up. I strive to make a difference, even if it's only in the lives of my clients.
I obtained my PhD in Counseling Psychology and I am a licensed psychologist in the states of Florida, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
Specialties & Issues
I use a strengths-based approach as I work with my clients. I specialize in helping others with
- stress management
- overcoming perfectionism
- relationship wellness and boundaries
- LGBTQ concerns
- career satisfaction and proper work-life balance
Other topics are not off the table, though. Please schedule a free phone consult with me if you would like to see if we are a good fit.
I am active in session, demonstrating directness and transparency in my work. I will push you to feel, challenge you to think, and give you honest feedback because I believe that people come to therapy to get a different experience than what they get in their outside life. People who have worked with me describe me as conversational, energetic, and accepting.
Services & Rates
I offer individual therapy for adults in my online practice. The rates are outlined below:
Individual Intake: $235
Individual 60-minute therapy session: $200
*30-minute and 90-minute appointments are also available
**Reduced rates are available upon request and space.
I do not accept insurance in my practice, because it gives my clients more control in and privacy over their care. Feel free to read my blog article outlining the benefits of private pay: https://www.betterbalancepsychology.com/blog/benefits-of-private-pay
