Trying to navigate the military lifestyle without loosing your mind? Not feeling like yourself since you came back from down range? Concern about your cranky spouse and how they make sure your couch doesn't move?
I can help you learn to not only survive military life, but thrive in it! This unique lifestyle comes with many stressors that the average civilian can't even imagine or relate to. I live the same lifestyle as you and I know how to overcome many obstacles that come our way. Let me help you learn how to do the same!
I am an Army wife and mother of two. I live with and love a six-time Combat Veteran. He's an Airborne Army Ranger (who jumps out of perfectly good airplanes anyway?). I have two girls; thing one is the hot mess express and she keeps me on my toes. She struggles with sensory processing issues and spectrum behaviors. I love her to pieces, but there are days that she's lucky her mother is a therapist! Thing two is quiet and calm, but she's got a mean right hook when she needs it. I am glad she can hold her own with thing one.
My DV (Disabled Veteran - I use as a term of endearment) and I made a major life change after he retired in 2017 and moved to the country. Now I feel like I live at a small petting zoo and I often loose my kids on our property. Fortunately, our dog is an excellent babysitter and he's more responsible than thing one and thing two combined. That's my crazy life in a nutshell and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Now the important stuff about how I know what I know. I have a Master's and Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have worked in a variety of settings over the past 19 years in this field. I started my career working with emotionally disturbed children then fell into working with adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse issues.
I've worked for the DOD in the Army Substance Abuse Program at Ft. Bragg's Special Forces Clinic and at Ft. Leavenworth. I have also worked at a Vet Center through the VA where I treated Combat Veterans from all eras. I also work for Humana Military; the subcontractor for TRICARE's behavioral health benefits. I have pretty much done it all but my true passion is helping my military community!
