My overall goal is to facilitate change in order to live life to the fullest. Life is too short to live with regret and heartache. Individuals will be supported and challenged to examine their choices and their boundaries and given the opportunity to heal from the harshness of life. Couples will be provided with practical tools and coaching in their effort to improve the health and quality of their relationship.

Personal Information
Prior to becoming a therapist, I served as a United Methodist clergy person in the local church for 17 years. I returned to graduate school and obtained a Masters in Counseling Psychology. I am currently licensed in Alabama and Florida.
After 11 years serving clients in both inpatient facilities and intensive outpatient programs, I made the move to private practice. This has given me the opportunity to focus on my specialty areas, and set my own schedule and continue training.
My sessions are available online through video conferencing. This allows the client the comfort of being in their own space. The video link is confidential and meets all HIPAA requirements. It is important that the client choose a space that will provide privacy.
Qualifications
My undergraduate degree is from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. I attended seminary at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. Approach
My counseling approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Spirituality and EMDR.
What is EMDR?
EMDR therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. In 1978, psychologist Dr. Francine Shapiro made the chance observation that eye movements can reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts, under certain conditions. Since then, EMDR has developed and evolved through the contributions of therapists and researchers all over the world. I utilize EMDR with trauma and other issues where useful. -
